Addison's Graduation Celebrations

Addison's Final Week of High School - It began with our traditional first day / last day of school breakfast out tradition. Joey and I took Addison out to Waffle House (her choice) on her last day that I'd be in town for before leaving for Idaho. We had a yummy breakfast and fun conversation! Then on Saturday night, May 16th we celebrated with a party at our house of about 60 - 75 friends and family members in honor of Addison's accomplishments! It was a very fun night with lots of great food and such fun company. Thanks to all who attended and helped make this such a fun night for Addi! We love you, Addi-Boo!

Next was Addison's Seminary Graduation on Sunday, May 17th. Addison has attended an early morning Seminary class each school day for the past 4 years. From 9th through 12th grade, LDS (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) youth attend this class before school each morning at 6:30 AM and study the scriptures. This year there were more than 30 students in Addison's early morning class in Camden which was truly amazing. How awesome to study the scriptures at the beginning of your day and to be taught such lessons from the scriptures and to "arm" your day this way. Addison is so grateful for the seminary program and the knowledge she received from it. What a sacrifice to have gotten up early and attended all four years. During this time she also held a job at Sonic in which she got off really late some nights and still managed to get up early and attend Seminary. She said something was truly missing on the days she had to miss. I am so proud of you, Addison, in this wonderful accomplishment which is to me, more important that your high school graduation. I also appreciate the example of your older brother and sister who also attended and graduated from the Seminary program. What an accomplishment!

Then on Saturday, May 30th at 9:30 AM Addison graduated from high school. Congratulations to all the Class of 2009 and best of luck in all your future plans! This is a whole new chapter about to unfold and with it comes much excitement and also some uncertainty but I know you will do great things, Addison! Pray always, Choose the Right, and put the Lord first and you are destined for great things. Wow - I can't believe this day came so quickly! I am just so thankful to have been a part of this with you. I will miss all the things about school with you, Addi...the "Mom, can you please bring ----- to the school and like really quick?!" calls, the school programs, band stuff, and all that came along with your school years. I will be forever grateful to have been able to go through all this with you as a front seat mom...I wouldn't have missed it for the world!
Following Graduation Exercises we surprised Addison with lunch at "Sumo's" (her favorite) and had an awesome lunch. Our chef was so great and we loved the show. The food was marvelous and Addison seemed to enjoy herself so much! Thank you to Aunt Tiawanna for coming and making it so special. Thanks to Ethan for getting up extra early and making it into the town for the graduation. And finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to my parents and for all their love and support especially to Addison during all her school years. They have been such an extra special support and I am so thankful they all they've done for not only Addison, but for our family in so many different ways. I love you all with all my heart!

Yikes, yippee, whooooweeeee!!!!

Tonight I am filled with so many different emotions -- there is sooooooooo much going on but it's all good. First - Erika is being induced tomorrow morning!!! I think it's finally hit me and I'm so excited and yet so torn about where I want to be and where I should be. I'm still not exactly which day I'm leaving for Idaho but I first have to get through this week -- there is much to do here first. How will I ever be able to concentrate on my work tomorrow????? I totally wish I could be Samantha on "Bewitched" (remember that show - my favorite!) and I could twitch my nose and be with Erika and Jack tomorrow for the arrival of my first grandchild...wow, it still seems like a dream. She is in good hands, though, I know that and she will be fine. Ethan leaves Idaho Wednesday morning so he'll be there and he can tell me all about it Wednesday night when I pick him up from the airport. Addison's Seminary Dinner is Thursday night, our Graduation Party for her is Saturday night, and Seminary Graduation is Sunday evening. By the way, did I mention I work the next 3 days from 7 AM til 7 PM and Addi and I have 2 softball games yet this week?!?! This is most definetely a full week! Lots of exciting things going on and wow, can you believe it -- I am going to be a grandmother -- and like...TOMORROW!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

It has been a wonderful Mother's Day weekend at our house. I have been treated like a princess by my wonderful husband and family with all sorts of surprises all weekend long. Today the lessons at church were so special and then we spent time with our families the remainder of the day. It was so fun.

I am so thankful for my mother who gave me life and brought us up in a warm and loving Christian home. I am grateful that she taught us lessons and even that she was strict and expected only the best from us. We always knew we were so loved and that she was always behind us and wanted only the right thing for us. Our mom continues to do so much for our family and we love her so very much. Happy Mother's Day, Mom...you are amazing!

I am also thankful for Joey's mom and the wonderful person she is. Joey is the person he is because of a loving mom and dad who also brought him up in a loving Christian home.

My sister, Tiawanna, and my niece, Ginger, are also very special mothers to me. My sister was like my 2nd mother you could say because she was 9 years old when I was born and she has always watched out for me. I love her so much and wish I could repay her for all she has done for me...I love you, T! Ginger is an amazing mom and I learn so much from her example. She seems more like my younger sister than niece I think because I was 13 when she was born and being the baby in my family she was like a real-life doll to me and I love her so much. She is an incredible young woman and I am so thankful for her. Happy Mother's Day, Tiawanna and Ginger, you are both so special to me.

Lastly, I am so thankful for the mother of my soon-to-be first grandchild. My daughter, Erika, is an exceptional young woman also with so many wonderful qualities. She is beautiful and strong and determined in life. She is such an example to me and I am so thankful to be her mother. Thank you, Erika, for all you mean to me and for the blessing you are and always have been in my life. I love you with all my heart and I am so excited about the baby. I love her so much already. Have a wonderful week and get lots of rest while you can...Happy Mother's Day to the greatest any-day-now-mother-to-be in the universe! I love you!

There are so many other mothers who have influenced my life in so many ways and I am so grateful for each one. Thank you, thank you, thank you. May the Lord bless all the mothers of the world...
